Rap Similes

Lately I've been noticing (and loving) similes in rap music.
There aren't necessarily all new, but they're damn good.

1. I love you like a fat kid love cake
2. We keep this hot like a thermos cup
3. I'm all up in her hair like dandruff

There have got to be so many more that I'm not even thinking of.
I want to keep this list growing! Know of any to add to it?

Who New?

So it's been a while since I wrote a list. Today while listening to the radio I was just thrown by what they (along with many magazines) were calling a new band. Now I may be out of the loop and not really know what's going on with music anymore, but I do know that when a band has been together for like 10 years and has released multiple CDs they are not NEW. With that said, I will start this list with the band that sparked this thought and would love for others to add to it bands that fall in this same scenario.

Not a new band:

1. VHS or Beta

Things I'd rather be doing.

"Stuck" in class right now, so many things I would rather be doing...

1. Wrapping Matt's birthday gifts
2. Cleaning the house
3. Doing my homework for Thursday's class
4. Relaxing
5. Making dinner

The good and the bad that is today...

1. Good: I just won tickets to Inpterpol.
2. Bad: I have homework due tomorrow that I don't know how to do.
3. Good: The weekend is getting closer.
4. Bad: I have to sleep alone the next two nights.
5. Good: Fall is here.
6. Bad: I have no fall clothes.
7: Good: An excuse to go shopping.
8. Bad: Shopping costs money!

Young and Innocent.

So today is Thursday, which is a day I usually don't write my own lists.
Therefore, I am going to get this one started, with the hopes that people will add to it.

Today while at the gym I started thinking about songs I sang when I was younger. Songs that I sang without really interpreting the lyrics, or maybe I did, but never really thought about them since after a while songs just become a bunch of words. Now looking back I can't believe I probably sang these while shopping in the grocery store with my parents.

Here's the first song that popped into my head.
What song pops into yours?

1. "Do Me" Bell Biv DeVoe

I would also like to add to this list anything by Samantha Fox.

Switching Things Up.

This weekend I did some things I don't usually do (or don't do often enough).

1. Girls night out, followed by a girls night in!
2. Yoga! I loved it and plan to go again.
3. Tried someplace new for dinner: City Girl Cafe.
4. I played pool and actually did OK.
5. Returned stuff at Target without spending more money.
6. Was kicking butt at Wii golf, only to have the game freeze up.
7. Packed my bag for the gym before going to bed (and actually got up and went).

Now that's a good weekend.

Today will be a good day.

Sometimes your day just starts out right.
I think today is one of those days.

1. Gas was $2.59 this morning, filling up my tank was less than $40!
2. I made it to work in record time, the roads were wide open.
3. The sun just came out.
4. It's Friday.
5. Today for lunch I am getting a veggie sub with lots of pickles!
6. Tonight I'm making a necklace.
7. Thee weekend begins in 8 hours and counting.

So you only get 5 things...

So today is Thursday, I didn't ask anyone to write a list, but Mary happened to anyway.
I love it when things just work out.
You can find her list here!
It's a good one, I'm still thinking about what my list will contain...
Stay tuned, as that may be my list on a future date.
This one will take some thinking though.

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

'tis the season...

to...
1. sleep with the window open and blankets on.
2. wait for the the leaves to start changing.
3. get ready to go back to school.
4. think about what recipes to use with all the apples that will be picked.
5. start to look back at the year and see what was accomplished so far, and what is still there waiting.

Lunch Oddities.

Ever look around you and wonder about the time trap of people you're surrounded by?
Today's lunch was just that, and boy I wish I had photos to share.

1. The tall awkward semi-mullet sporting guy with his shirt oddly tucked in that was whistling really loud. Not a good whistle though, but more like nails on a chalkboard.
2. The computer geek who I can picture in high-school having long hair, but then got it cut into a style similar to a woman's bob. Just not flattering.
3. This could be my favorite. A commercial van filled with tan shirtless men who look like they're in one of those cheesy calendars that were really popular in the 80's.

Seriously, all this fun in less than five minutes.
I wish lunch was like this every day, but with a camera.

Daydreaming.

Reasons I did not sleep well last night:

1. It was hot out and we didn't put the AC on.
2. The cats were running around like crazy because....
3. A bat got into our bedroom.

Needless to say, after #3 happened I spent the night tossing and turning.
The bat is currently MIA. The cats may have a fun day ahead of them.
I'm just happy I don't get home from work first!

Motivation to Work Out!

Weight loss, muscles, endurance? Sure those are all great reasons to hit the gym, but not necessarily mine!
My reason: My gym seems to play some random music, like really random.

Must be some odd satellite radio station.
Here's just a few songs I've heard while trying to find my waistline.

1. "Rico Suave" Gerardo
2. Rick Astley
3. "The Right Stuff" New Kids on the Block
4. The Spice Girls (prior to their reunion tour announcement)

I guarantee this list will continue to grow. It's just too great to ignore.

My 30th birthday party was this weekend, and it was filled with delicious food!

From front to back:
1. Fresh fruit with your choice of chocolate fondue or cream cheese dip (or both!).
2. Seven layer bars.
3. Delicious pastries.
4. Hidden behind the pastries are homemade ice cream sandwiches.
5. On the green tray, white chocolate cranberry cookies, and adorable bite size brownies.
6. Back left is a bowl of chocolate goodness.
7. And last but certainly not least, the blueberry-lemon-poundcake trifle. Delicious!

Vacation.

Every year my family heads North for a vacation in North Conway.
Here are a few things I tend to do on vacation every year that I don't generally do otherwise.

1. Eat at Burger King. I usually stop there on the drive up for a BK Veggie.
2. Sleep past 8:30.
3. Eat a lot of sweets. Who can pass up Zeb's?
4. Mini golf with the whole family!
5. Blizzards from Dairy Queen.

1. Learn how to use a digital camera
2. Learn how to buy a digital camera
3. Want to be able to take great pictures when I go to Italy next year
4. Just something that I thought would be fun to take
5. It's online; so I can learn it at my own pace
6. The class got some great reviews

Table Scraps

My cat Cupcake doesn't wait for scraps, she eats right off our plates.
Here's what she's snatched recently.

1. Broccoli. An entire piece, and she ate it. Crazy.
2. A banana nut muffin. This was Matt's and I did not witness the event.
3. A French fry. She stole it right off Matt's dinner plate.

Who knows what else she's had, but this list may be expanding in the future!

Summer in New England

It's Thursday, that means someone else is writing the list.
Today it's my friend Connie!
Here you go:

Seven things I like about summer in New England
(written by someone who's spent the last 8 summers in Southern California....)

7. New England beaches. It might be really cold, but you can go into the water without getting some crazy rash or weird infection from pollution.
6. Thunderstorms. I used to hate them until I missed them.
5. The smell of rain on hot pavement. It doesn't rain in the summer in LA. Ever.
4. Leaves on trees and lots of green. Which also means the whole forest isn't gonna burn down from the wind and heat.
3. The temperature does not generally rise above 100 degrees.
2. Humidity. It's really good for your skin. Spend a summer in the desert and you'll totally understand.
1. And most importantly, ICE CREAM! Kimball's, Meadowlands....Who doesn't love homemade ice cream from the ice cream stand!

things i refuse to write about online

while at dinner tonight my friends and i were discussing blogs and how some people just write too much. what you won't hear from me:

1. too much information about my personal life. in fact, you'll barely hear anything.
2. job venting. this is easy since i love my job, but it still shocks me how many people vent about their job online.
3. twenty reasons why i have the best boyfriend. not going there, connects back to number one. however, i can't resist typing that he was just walking around the place whistling "Beat It" by Michael Jackson. awesome.

2. tortilla chips with fresh guacamole

3. The Hyannisport, with a veggie dog of course!
4. Iced Tea
5. Delicious Indian Snacks
6. Chili's Black Bean Burger

8.
Broccoli. For real.

The question is, what to have for dinner?

The Fouth of July.

A simple list of things I like about the 4th:

1. A day off from work.
2. Fireworks. Especially since I can see them as I sit here and type.
3. A chance to relax, yes this does relate to item #1.
4. It means I have finished yet another semester of school.
5. One month until my birthday.

We Could Have Been Twins

Kara and I have a lot in common.
Here's a list of just a few of those things.

1. We both love food. Like really love it.

3. We're both running a 5k this weekend, and we both have the same brand of running shoes.
4. We straighten our hair with the same iron.
5. Same TV show addictions. Food. Dance. More Food.

Boston Organics

So Matt & I received our first delivery from Boston Organics this week.
I'm so glad I signed up, here are some of the reasons why (of course, in list formation):

1. I don't have to pick through gross grocery store produce!
2. The baggers at said grocery stores won't have the chance to bruise everything I've picked through.
3. There's always fruit around the house, so I've been snacking way healthier.
4. It's all organic, which can sometimes be hard to find.
5. It's made me cook more, and try things I may not have bought otherwise.

Overall this has been a great investment.
I'm enjoying it so much I may change to weekly deliveries!
